Group Therapy
You may feel that there are parts of you that no one will understand or accept. That if you were to share with anyone else this particular aspect of your life that you will be shamed or rejected. One of the most powerful ways to change this perspective, combat shame and increase meaningful connection with others is through group therapy.
What is Group Therapy?
Group therapy consists of myself as the group facilitator and up to eight group members at a time. In the beginning of each meeting, group members do a “check in” to let the other members know how they are doing that week and if there is something they would like to work on. The group then decides who would like to start and other group members are able to then share feedback, experiences and how they are feeling in the moment towards other group members.
Think of this as a social lab in which you are able to receive feedback in the moment from multiple people and learn more about how you relate to yourself and others.
As the facilitator, my role is to work towards involving the entire group in the process and ensuring that safety is maintained within the group. At the end of the group, each member then does a “check out” to share what they experienced in the group and what is on their mind.
